Feelin' Fresh

There is NOTHING like fresh color! The shine, the vibrancy, the manageability. But how can we keep that fresh color feeling 3 and 4 weeks in? The reality is that color will fade but, there are different things you can do to help prolong the inevitable.

  1. Use professional products, more specifically ones geared towards color protection and vibrancy. While salon products are safe for color treated hair, some are made specifically to safeguard your color.
  2. Turn down your heat. I’m talking curling irons, flat irons, ANY hot tools and your water temperature. Not only can you cause unnecessary, accidental damage to your hair, but exposing your hair to extreme heat can cause your color to fade in front of your eyes.
  3. Use heat protectant. Use it in your blow dry products and again before you heat style with any styling tools.
  4. Wash less often. We hear that a lot for pop color clients. But its true for any color. Washing in cooler water and less frequently helps to prolong the longevity of your color.
  5. Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight and pool water. Make sure you're wearing a hat to cover your hair if you’re going to be outside for an extended period of time. Chlorine and salt water can strip your color quickly. Avoid it when you can. If not, before you dunk your head, wet down your hair and put conditioner in to help block the chlorine and salt from soaking into your hair too much and wash your hair before it dries to make sure to remove any residual chlorine or salt.
  6. Treatments. Having healthy hair is the ultimate key to shiny, healthy color. Doing treatments at your appointments and using the products your stylist prescribes to you helps make sure you're getting the most out of your color and investment.

Here’s to YOUR great hair day!
